Grey Coverage and Blending

Most everyone has a memory of their moor aunt declaring that their ‘first grey hair has got to go’. There may have even been a sprint to the tweezers. As we get older or experience more stress, the grey is going to naturally come in. And luckily, times they are changing and that once undesirable shade of grey has become a popular trend amongst men and women of all ages.

Going grey has a variety of options while still keeping you looking young, fresh and fabulousAs a color expertthe Jill McCormack Salon can assist you with embracing your natural grey beauty by adding some depth and contrast with highlights and lowlights or help you make a statement with some bold full coverage silver.

Going Grey: Blending or Full Coverage Color?

Blending

If you are already going grey naturally blending is a low maintenance color technique that will give you a multi-dimensional style.  I will craft a mixture of naturallooking colors by adding highlights and lowlights with no visible color line so you can fancy your greys with class.

This technique requires a certain level of expertise therefore results turn out best when done in the salon by a professional colorist.  Blending can take as few as 35 minutes and only requires a touch up every 6 to 8 weeks at the salon.

Working one-on-one you’ll get the custom color right for you! During your first visit, I’ll review your hair and color goals. That way we can get your look just right. Call me today or schedule an appointment online!

Full coverage

This coloring method conceals your white, silver, or grey locks from root to tip with an all-over application.

Now with complete coverage, your hair will begin to show a visible line as your hair grows backDepending on how quickly your hair grows you will require root touchups every 4 to 6 weeks.  I can apply a color that matches your natural color or for other color options give me a call for a consultation at Jill McCormack Hair 443-745-3503.

Which Color is Best for Your Base?

Now there are again a couple of options depending on how much coverage you are looking for. Before diving into grey blending, I take into consideration your starting base color. Some of the best colors for your base color include:

  • Natural Blonde – adding cool ash tones ranging from medium blonde to pearl will pair wonderfully with silvery hues of grey.
  • Natural Brunette – choosing darker lowlights for blending your greys is your best option.  Think Mocha
  • Natural Redhead – incorporate blonde to brown range of highlights and lowlights blending the grey and concealing the red.  A glaze can accentuate your natural red if your greys are lower in number.

I can safely and effectively transform your dull gray locks into a stunning look that will turn heads with envy.  Give me a call at Jill McCormack Hair 443-745-3503 to book your hair appointment or color consultation!
